ALICE LLOYD VOLLEYBALL SPLITS OPENING DAY OF POOL PLAY AT NCCAA NATIONALS

Joplin, Missouri — On Wednesday, November 19th, the Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles volleyball team traveled to Joplin, Missouri, to open competition at the 2025 NCCAA DII National Championship. As the #6 seed, ALC faced a challenging first day with two tough opponents: the #3 Pensacola Christian College Lady Eagles in the afternoon and the Arlington Baptist University Patriots that evening.


Alice Lloyd 0 – Pensacola Christian 3

The Lady Eagles (23-9) battled hard but dropped their opening match of pool play in three tightly contested sets to a strong Pensacola squad (23-6).

Set One:
The opener remained close throughout, with neither team leading by more than four points. ALC held a 17-16 edge late, but PCC responded out of a timeout with a pivotal run to claim the set, 25-21.

Set Two:
The second set mirrored the first in intensity. Pensacola surged ahead 23-15, but ALC roared back with a massive 9-1 run to tie the score at 24-24. PCC, however, closed the door with a kill and service ace to take it, 26-24.

Set Three:
Pensacola jumped out early and extended their lead to 20-10. The Lady Eagles fought back to keep things competitive, but PCC secured the sweep with a 25-19 victory.

Stat Leaders:

Pensacola led in kills (36–26), assists (44–36), digs (44–37), and service aces (8–4).


Alice Lloyd 3 – Arlington Baptist 2

The Lady Eagles (24-9) bounced back with a remarkable five-set upset over powerful Arlington Baptist (18-2), snapping the Patriots' 15-match win streak.

Set One:
ALC stunned ABU early, racing to a 14-6 lead. Arlington pulled within four, but the Lady Eagles powered through with five big kills to secure a 25-19 win.

Set Two:
Arlington flipped the momentum, jumping ahead 15-5. ALC cut the deficit to 20-16, but ABU closed out the set 25-18.

Set Three:
ABU controlled the third set from start to finish with a 20-7 run, handing ALC a 25-16 loss.

Set Four:
The Lady Eagles responded by staying even early, then pulling ahead 16-12. Arlington battled within one (22-21), but ALC delivered in the clutch to force a fifth set with a 25-22 victory.

Set Five:
ABU led 11-6 and looked poised to finish the match, but Alice Lloyd roared back. ALC used a critical 5-1 run to tie the score at 13-13. With the tension rising and the crowd fully engaged, both teams traded points until 20-20.
Then, Taylan Hoskins sealed the upset with back-to-back kills, giving ALC the emotional 22-20 victory.

Stat Leaders:

ALC led in kills (51–46), assists (44–36), and digs (79–74), while Arlington held the edge in aces (11–9).
