ALC Volleyball takes down Georgetown, for 10th win in 11 games

Georgetown, KY: The Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles volleyball team ventured to central Kentucky on Thursday, October 30th to face the Georgetown Lady Tigers .The Caney Creek crew would have a battle, but deliver in the clutch to take the victory, their 10th in the past 11 outings

The Lady Eagles (21-8) would persevere in five sets over the homestanding Tigers (3-20). 

In game 1, the hosts would leap out to a 7-4 lead before ALC rolled off a 7-0 run to move ahead, 11-7. From there, the Pippa Passes posse would hold their advantage and extent it out for a 25-19 win.

Game 2 saw a close battle early before the Tigers took control and moved out to a 22-15 lead. Although, the Lady Eagles would slice the deficit to three points, GC would hold on for a 25-21 win.

Game 3, saw a see-saw affair as the two squads traded points. However, the eastern Kentucky crew managed to take a slight lead and hold it most of the way. This solid effort lifted the Caney Creek crew on towards the 25-20 win.

The important game 4 saw the squads battle evenly, knowing the importance behind it. Eventually, clinging to a 14-12 lead, Georgetown rolled off a decisive  6-0 burst, and rode that momentum on to the 25-16 win.

The 5th game would determine the match, and the scoreboard alternated points until it read 6-6. ALC would creep out to a 12-8 advantage, but then watch the Tigers come back to knot the score at 13-13. Happily, in crunch time, the Caney crew saw Taylan Hoskins deliver a massive kill for a 14-13 lead. On the very next play, GC would comit a critical service error, and hand over the big "W" to the blue and white.

On the day, the hometown club led in kills (57-46), assists (55-46), and digs (63-58), while the squads tied in service aces, 10-10.

Individually, Kyleah Ward led in kills with 13. Peyton Taylor led in assists (37), while Gracie Gibsons 16 digs and 5 service aces paved the way in those departments.
