Alice Lloyd Volleyball continues winning ways, earn home sweep over Institute for God
Pippa Passes, KY: The Eagles would control the match from start to finish against NCCAA opponent, Institute for God (TN), and be rewarded with a 3-0 victory for their efforts.
In game 1, the home club roared out the gate with a 14-3 blitzkrieg. They would keep the heat on, utilizing 11 kills and solid teamwork, and cruise to a 25-8 win.
Game 2 saw the Tennessee squad look to flip the script as the Phoenix played their best ball of the day. The Volunteer squad jumped out to a commanding 11-4 lead, forcing a timeout.
Fortunately for the home fans, they would see "The Pass" regroup and make a run. Later, when the Lady Eagle Taylan Hoskins delivered a big kill, the hosts had stormed all the way back to tie the contest, 17-17.
From there, ALC would roll off a 5-1 run to gain separation and lead, 22-18. They would then close out the set with a 25-20 win.
Game 3, saw the Bluegrass ladies vow to end the festivities, and that's just what they did. The Caney Creek crew would start the match with a number of kills, and sprint out to a commanding 10-2 lead.
From there, although the Institute for God played hard, they could not overcome the Lady Eagles stellar play. A final score of 25-10 handed the match and impressive victory to the royal blue and white.
For the match, the hosts led in kills (31-19), assists (30-19), and service aces (19-5), while the Phoenix led in digs (27-26). Individually for the Lady Eagles, Callie Butler and Hoskins led the club with 8 and 7 kills. Peyton Taylor (6) and Gracie Gibson (5) led in digs while Taylor dominated with 27 assists. Christa Amburgey led the club with 7 big aces, while Gibson and Hall chipped in 4 apiece.
This runs Alice Lloyds record to 7-3, while IFG fell to 0-3.
