Alice Lloyd Soccer Unleashes Power Offense, Earns Convincing Win

Pippa Passes, KY: On October 13th, the Alice Lloyd Eagles hosted the Appalachian Bible College Warriors in NCCAA Mideast Region play. The Eagles unleashed a high-powered offense, to earn a huge 11-2 win.

ALC Coach Juan Lander's chargers came ready to work. They quickly scored the opening goal at the 3:00 mark when freshman Dylan Moore took a Joseph Westphal pass and lined it into the net (1-0). They would then score goals at 11:00 (Moore, assist Isaiah Collins), 15:00 (Jestin Barker, assist Collins), and 24:00 (Collins, assist Moore) to sprint ahead, 4-0.

ABC would finally dent the scoreboard at 30:00 (4-1), only to watch Alice Lloyd's Riley Smith (assist Tyler Brammer) earn the point back (5-1). Then, before the half ended, Moore and Smith would each connect again unassisted, and set the score 7-1 at intermission.

In the second half, Appalachian Bible struck just two minutes in (7-2) and looked to chip into the deficit even more.  However, the Eagles struck pay dirt at 52:00 when Moore scored his fourth goal of the game (8-2, assist Collins).

The rest of the contest belonged to ALC's Smith, who would then score three consecutive goals: 62:00 (unassisted), 65:00 (assist Javier Polly), and 76:00 (assist Johnny Zuidema). His fifth and final goal of the day would end the scoring (11-2) and hand the Eagles their second win of the season.

On the day, the Eagles were the aggressors, firing 51 shots on goal compared to the ABCs' 8. The victors had 9 corner kicks and 1 foul, while the West Virginia club had 4 corner kicks and 1 foul.

On offense, Smith and Moore led the way with 5 and 4 goals, respectively, while Collins led the squad with 3 assists.

ALC goalie Joseph Westphal was impressive behind the net as registered 4 saves.  Alex Acey came in the last 15 minutes and saved 1 shot of his own.

The Eagles return to action on Wednesday, October 19, when they host Berea College for a 6:00 pm matchup.
