Alice Lloyd Soccer Hosts Kentucky Christian University

Pippa Passes, KY: On October 10th, the Alice Lloyd Eagles soccer team played host to the Kentucky Christian University Knights on Mullinax Field. In a close game that saw ALC clinging to the lead entering the 65th minute, KCU would storm back late and pull out the 3-1 win.

The game was tight throughout the first half as both squads battled toe-to-toe. Finally, ALC would strike gold at 32:00 when Isaiah Collins took a feed from Corbyn Jenkins and found the back of the net. The Eagles would now lead 1-0 and hold that score until intermission.

In the second half, the hosts continued their stellar defense and maintained the lead for 20 more minutes. Finally, at minute 65:00, everything changed.

At 65:10, KCU's Ethan Combs scored a goal to tie the score (1-1). Then, in minute 72:00, Combs drew a penalty kick opportunity and punched it home to give the Knights a 2-1 advantage. Finally, at 81:00, Combs struck again with his third goal to provide an insurance point (3-1). That score would hold until the final horn sounded.

On the day, the home club was limited to 6 shots on goal, compared to the Knights' 10. The Grayson club had 8 corner kicks compared to the Eagles' 2. The hosts led in fouls, 5-4.

On offense, Collins had a single goal, and Jenkins provided the assist. Defensively, ALC goalie Joseph Westphal registered 5 saves.

The Eagles (1-5-1) return to action on Thursday, October 13th, when they host Appalachian Bible College at 3:30 pm.
