Game 1

Alice Lloyd-4: Wright State Lake-5

The Eagles made a late rally to tie, only to fall short on a walk-off.

The scoring began in the second when WSL doubled to break the ice, 1-0.

In the fifth, the hosts used a pair of doubles and Eagle error to plate a trio of runs. Wright now led 4-0. That score would hold until the seventh.

In their last-at-bat, the Caney Creekers used a pair of timely singles, and big double from Jayden Huff (LF) to rally, The Dragons also made a costly error, and suddenly, the match was knotted up at 4-4.

Unfortunately, the Buckeye squad was able to connect at the end, driving a runner across the plate to squeak by with the 5-4 decision.

On the day, Huff, Carson Tate (2B), and Kyle Compton (3B) had the only hits for the blue and white, while Huff delivered 2 RBIs.

Ryan Grubbs started on the mound, allowing 1 earned run on 3 hits in 3 innings of work.  He stuck out 2. Trenton Williams relieved for 3.2 innings, allowing 3 hits and 2 earned runs and whiffing 1.

Alice Lloyd-5: Wright State Lake-4

The Eagles turned the tables to take the second contest.

The visiting squad would open the scoring in the first with a run (1-0) and then follow up with a nice 3-spot in the second. This gave them a 4-0 cushion.

WSL scored a trio of runs in the bottom of the inning to trail 4-3. That score would stand until the seventh.

In the final inning, the Pippa Passes posse managed to slide home an insurance run to lead 5-3. They would need it because Wright threatened in their final at-bat. Although the Ohio team managed a run to get within 5-4, the Bluegrass bunch would record the final out to preserve the win.

At the plateDiego Rodriguez (SS) and Austin Byrd (RF) both provided 2 hits with Rodriguez, Tate, Huff, and Kyle Johnson (CF) knocking in 1 RBI apiece.

The Eagles came through in a well-played game to take the series clincher.

The two pitchers controlled the contest through four innings as neither club could score.

Finally, in the fifth, an RBI single from the guests Aaron Rothballer (DH) broke the ice, 1-0.

In the bottom of that inning, WSL took advantage of an Eagle error to knot the score, 1-1.

Later, in the eighth, and two Caney Creekers on base, Tate delivered a well-placed single to deliver the goods. This lifted the Kentucky crew to a 3-0 advantage.

Wright would gain one of those back in their half with a single, to shrink the deficit to one, 3-2. However, in the ninth, ALC's Drake Cole pinch hit and delivered a clutch single to add some insurance (4-2).

From there, the Pippa Passes pitching closed the contest to chalk the 'W' up for the mountain men.

At the plate, Challen Massengill (OF) and Stephen Byrd (OF) each stroked 2 hits while Tate gifted a pair of RBIs.

Gibbs Cochran started on the mound and pitched six solid innings to earn the win. He allowed 1 earned run on 3 hits and struck out 1.
