Alice Lloyd Volleyball drops tough decision to highly-regarded Johnson University

 Pippa Passes, KY: The Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles volleyball team returned home on Saturday, September 27th to face the Appalachian Athletic Conference's top team, the Johnson University Lady Royals (TN). The Lady Royals demonstrated their prowess for three sets to earn the sweep.

The Lady Eagles (11-7) would fall to the formidable Tennessee club (14-3).

In game 1, the visitors came ready to play, sprinting out to a 10-2 lead.  The Lady Eagles would score 7 of the next 11 points to trail 14-9, but JU preceded to roll off a 7-0 run, and leap ahead 21-9. From there, they would close out and take the win, 25-11.

Game 2 saw a close battle as ALC hung tough. Near the midpoint, they would only trail 12-9. However, Johnson promptly ran off a 10-0 blitz, and used that to pull away for the 25-15 win.

Game 3, saw the Royals slip out to a 9-6 advantage only to unleash a 9-2 run to lead 18-8 lead. JU then showed why they are the top team in their league as they promptly sealed the deal on a 25-13 victory.

For the match, JU led in kills (42-21), assists (40-21), digs (47-28), and service aces, 7-2.

Individually for the Caney Creek club, Jadyn Hall led in kills with 6 while Peyton Taylor led in assists with 14. Gracie Gibson and Hall provided 9 and 7 digs respectively while Rose Scotello delivered both service aces.
