Alice Lloyd Volleyball drops tough decision to undefeated Ohio Christian

Pippa Passes, KY – The Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles volleyball team returned home on Tuesday, September 23rd, to face the undefeated Ohio Christian Lady Trailblazers in the Perry Campus Center. The hosts played a strong match but ultimately fell in four competitive sets.

Final Score: ALC 1, OCU 3
Records: ALC (11-6), OCU (16-0)

The first set was close throughout, with neither team leading by more than two points. Tied at 24-24, Ohio Christian used a kill and an Eagle error to take the set, 26-24.

Set two was another tight battle. Ohio Christian took an early 8-4 lead, but Alice Lloyd stayed within reach. Later, trailing 20-18, the Lady Eagles tied the score at 24-24 and won the set 26-24 after two errors by the Trailblazers.

Set three was more one-sided. Tied at 11-11, Ohio Christian went on an 11-1 run and led 22-12 before closing out the set 25-14.

In the fourth set, Alice Lloyd started strong, building a 9-3 lead. Ohio Christian came back to tie the score at 20-20. The final points were tightly contested, with the Lady Eagles leading at 23-22 and 25-24. Ohio Christian then capitalized on two late errors and secured the victory 28-26.

The statistics showed how closely matched the teams were. OCU led slightly in kills (48-45), assists (47-41), and digs (106-101), while also leading in blocks (14-7) and service aces (3-2).

Individually, Christa Amburgey led all players with 11 kills, followed by Callie Butler with 10. Peyton Taylor had a game-high 32 assists and 20 digs, second only to Gracie Gibson, who recorded 26. Gibson and Amburgey each added one service ace.
