Alice Lloyd Volleyball earns road sweep over Wilberforce

Wilberforce, OH: The Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles (3-2) volleyball team traveled to the Buckeye State on Saturday, August 30th, for a doubleheader against the Wilberforce Bulldogs (0-10). The Caney Creek crew would play at a steady level and be rewarded with a pair of victories on the day.

Match 1

ALC-3; Wilberforce-0

The Eagles would take the opening match in a straight-set win

In game 1, the contest was close throughout as the biggest lead was just four points. Leading 22-20, ALC used a pair of kills and an ace to end the match on a 3-1 run and win, 25-22.

Game 2 saw the Bluegrass ladies jump ahead 9-4 before the Bulldogs went on a run to take the lead. Later, trailing by three points, the Pippa Passes posse went on a closing burst to take the game, 25-21.

Game 3, saw the Caney Creek bunch display their best start of the day as they quickly took control with a 7-2 lead. They would keep the advantage from there and close out the match, 25-16.

 

For the game, Kyleah Ward led the club with 8 kills while Payton Taylor and Layla Peterson dished out 13 and 12 assists. Gracie Gibson produced 11 digs with Gibson and Camryn Thompson both producing a trio of aces.

Match 2

ALC-3; Wilberforce-0

ALC would take the second match in a tight, straight-set win over the Ohio club.

 In game 1, the Kentucky crew jumped out to an early lead and pushed it to 22-15.  Despite a late run from WU, the Eagles closed with a spurt to take the game, 25-21.

Game 2 saw the clubs battle in a nip-and-tuck affair. In a match that went down to the wire, the Caney Creek crew made the clutch plays to win, 25-22.

Game 3, saw the pattern repeat as the contest was tight throughout. Although Wilberforce refused to go away quietly, Alice Lloyd would not be denied as they took the sweep with a 25-21 win.

For the game, Ward led the club with 9 kills while Taylor and Peterson tied with 7 assists. Taylor and Gibson led in digs with 6 and 5. Peterson came through with 5 big aces while Christa Amburgey added 4.
