ALC Eagles fall in regular season finale to #2 Ohio Christian

Pippa Passes, KY: The Alice Lloyd Eagles returned home on February 17th to close out the regular season. The opponent would be the NCCAA #2 ranked Ohio Christian Trailblazers. The Bluegrass boys hung close for twenty minutes before the Ohio club pulled away in the final half to win, 105-86.

Before the contest started Eagle seniors Koji Anderson, Jacob Curry, Alex Rasnick, and Wilgus Tolson were recognized for their contributions to the program. Once play began, OCU was determined to spoil the festivities.

The guests would come out on fire, drilling 6-consecutive bombs to jump out to a 20-8 lead with 13:17 showing. The advantage would reach 16 (31-15) following another trifecta at 8:39.

From there, the Caney Creek crew would answer. Sparked by the 15-point scoring outburst from Anderson, the blue and white closed the half on a nice 37-26 burst. This would get them within a single point (46-45) at intermission.

In the second half, Ohio Christian turned to guard Parker Penrod and he scored 10 consecutive points in just 2:30 to reverse course. The Trailblazers would remain on fire as they continued to hold on to their advantage with blistering accuracy. Although Pippa Passes guard Desmier Hatchett heated up on offense during the final twenty minutes, the deficit was too great to overcome as they they could not overcome the marksmanship of the visitors.

For Alice Lloyd (11-16) junior guard Desmier Hatchett led the way with 23 points and 2 rebounds. Anderson was just behind him with 22 points and 4 assists. In addition, freshman forward Evin Eversole added 11 points and 6 rebounds. He tied junior forward Naz Welch for the rebounding lead. 

On the day, ALC shot 45.7% (32-70) from the floor, 37.5 (12-32) from long range, and 71.4% (10-14) from the charity line. They added 33 rebounds, 11 assists, and 5 blocks.

OCU (24-2), which saw five Trailblazers reach double-figures, was led by Parker Penrod with 32 points, His squad shot a blistering 58.1% (36-62) from the field, 56.3% (18-32) from long-range, and 65.2% (15-23) from the foul line. They added 36 rebounds, 31 assists and 5 steals.
