ALC Eagles remain hot, defeat Morris, South Carolina on road, 93-76

Sumpter, SC: The Alice Lloyd Eagles continued their road travels, this time venturing South to the Palmetto State, to face an athletic Morris University Hornets club. The Eagles took control from the get-go and used a balanced attack to win in fine fashion, 93-76.

In the opening stanza, the visitors got off to a great start, behind the red-hot accuracy from junior guard Desmier Hatchett, senior guard Koji Anderson, and freshman forward Evin Eversole. The Bluegrass boys jumped out to an early 16-6 lead as their big trio scored 11 points. Then, over the next 3:30, the Eagle bench came on and saw senior guards Jacob Curry and Alex Rasnick, along with freshman Andrew Bloomfield, all drain long bombs. Just like that, at 11:00, the score read 25-8.

The fiery pace would continue, and at 6:38, the lead had reached twenty-four (36-12). Although Morris would reel off 14 consecutive points to get within ten (36-26) at 4:10, the three veterans would promptly score 13 points in a 15-8 burst that sent the Caney Creek crew into intermission holding a 51-34 cushion.

In the second half, the Kentucky kids would quickly extend their advantage to twenty-six (67-41) following seven points from Eversole in the post. From there, the Eagles were never threatened as they preserved the big lead to earn a solid 17-point victory.

For Alice Lloyd (12-14), all five starters achieved double figures. Eversole filled the stat sheet as he sank 8-10 field goals and 8-8 free throws to produce his game-high 25 points. He added 6 rebounds, 5 steals, 2 assists, and 1 block as he only continues to improve. He was followed by Anderson and Hatchett with 15 and 14 points respectively. Anderson led the club with 7 rebounds, and added 3 steals of his own.

In addition, junior guard Landon Napier pumped in 13 points and handed out 4 assists, while junior forward Naz Welch added 10 points and 4 rebounds to the cause.

On the day, ALC shot a solid 58.3 (31-55) from the floor, 42.1% (8-19) from deep, and 82.1% (22-27) from the foul line. They added 31 crucial rebounds, 16 assists, and 11 steals.

The Hornets (11-12), were led by Gary Bair and Amari Chatman, both with 18 points, Their squad shot 41.9% (28-62) from the field, 32.1% (9-28) from long-range, and 71,4% (15-21) from the foul line. They added 25 rebounds, 16 assists, and 6 steals.
