ALC Eagles drill 18 trifectas, take out Great Lakes Christian 91-76 to earn sweep in Michigan

Lansing, MI: The Alice Lloyd Eagles concluded their journey to the Wolverine State on Sunday February 8th against the tall and athletic Great Lakes Christian Crusaders. The Kentucky crew hung close in the first half before unleashing a scoring blitz in the second to win in commanding fashion, 91-76.

In the opening stanza, the hosts took an early lead and slowly extended it out. However, ALC would regroup. Sparked by  15 points between junior forward Naz Welch and freshman forward Evin Eversole, plus 8 long bombs from their teammates, the Caney Creek crew fought back. When Welch sank a bucket just ahead of the buzzer, the Crusader lead was reduced to just two, 43-41, by intermission.

In the second half, the Pippa Passes posse did not look like a club playing their third game in under forty-eight hours as they went wild from deep. First, senior guard Koji Anderson took over the game, swishing tough shots on numerous moves and dishing out several beautiful passes to give his crew the lead. Then, senior guard Jacob Curry came off the bench to drill a quartet of long bombs that blew the contest wide open.

In total, the Eagles would sink 10 more bombs in the final twenty minutes to explode out to a huge lead over the shocked crowd. The outcome would never be in doubt as the Bluegrass bunch slammed the door shut on an impressive victory.

For Alice Lloyd (10-14), four players reached double-digits. Anderson capped off a brilliant trio of games in Michigan, leading all players with 20 points and 7 assists. He sank 8-9 field goals and 2-2 bombs, scoring 15 points in the big second half. For good measure, he added 3 steals.
