ALC Eagles drop decision at #3 Ohio Christian, 98-86

Circleville, OH: The Alice Lloyd Eagles journeyed to the Buckeye state on Monday February 2nd to do battle with the #3 ranked Ohio Christian Trailblazers. The Bluegrass boys fell behind in the first half and rallied in the second, before succumbing 98-86.

In the first half, OCU came out of the gates on fire, showing why they entered the contest on a 16-game win streak. ALC saw freshman forward Evin Eversole and junior guard Desmier Hatchett both reach double-figures in the opening twenty minutes. However, backed by blazing 10-17 long-range shooting, the Trailblazers pulled out to a 21-point advantage, before settling into a 53-35 lead by intermission.

In the second half, the Caney Creek crew fought back, led by the shooting of junior guard Landon Napier and senior guard Koji Anderson. The Pippa Passes posse would cut the deficit to single-digits as they swished 9-14 trifectas themselves. Unfortunately, the deficit would prove too deep to dig out of as the Ohio squad sank several charity tosses to earn their 20th win of the season.

For Alice Lloyd (7-14), Eversole and Napier led the way with 18 points apiece. Hatchett contributed 14 while Anderson added 13.

In addition, Eversole led the team with 10 rebounds, Hatchett paved the way with 4 steals, and tied Anderson by dishing out 3 assists apiece.

On the day, ALC shot 47.8% (33-69) from the floor, 50% (14-28) from deep, and 60% (6-10) from the foul line. They added 25 rebounds, 10 assists and 9 steals.

OCU (20-1), which saw six Trailblazers reach double-figures, was led by Parker Penrod with 18 points, His squad shot a blistering 60.7% (37-61) from the field, 40% (12-30) from long-range, and 80% (12-15) from the foul line. They added 30 rebounds, 23 assists and 4 steals.
