ALC Basketball goes cold, fall to Kentucky Christian University
Pippa Passes, KY: The Alice Lloyd Eagles returned home on Thursday, November 20th to battle the Kentucky Christian Knights. The visitors struck first and never lost the lead against the cold shooting hosts, and pulled way for a 83-68 victory.
In the first half, the Knights started well, jumping out to a 13-2 lead in the first five minutes as ALC was ice cold.
However, sparked by a series of buckets from junior guard Desmeir Hatchett, the hosts went on a 18-8 run to get within one point (21-20) at 7:28.
KCU then turned to bigman D'Anglo Stoxstill who led his club on another run. Although Eagle guard Koji Anderson sank a shot just before the halftime buzzer sounded, KCU would head into intermission leading 39-31.
As the second half opened, KCU got Markell Hood the ball and he pumped in three quick buckets. At 16:01, the lead was fifteen, 51-36. From that point, Alice Lloyd could never string any shots together to make a run. Although an Anderson layup got the squad within single-digits (72-63), they would get no closer as the Grayson club kept their lead until the buzzer.
For ALC (2-6), Anderson led the club with16 points 5 assists, 4 rebounds, and 5 steals. Hatchett contributed 13 points and 4 rebounds, while freshman forward Evin Eversole chipped in with 10 points, 2 blocks, and 5 rebounds.
On the night, the Eagles shot a chilly 36.6% (26-71) from the field, 27% (10-37) from long range, and only 46.2% (6-13) from the foul line. They added 31 rebounds, 13 assists, 15 steals, and 2 blocks.
KCU (2-5) was paced by Stoxstill and Hood, with 27 and 26 points respectively. Their team shot 51.7% (30-58) from the field, 31.3% (5-16) from long range, and 78.3% (18-23) from the charity stripe. They added 51 rebounds, 21 assists, 3 steals, and 4 blocks.
