ALC Eagles Cross Country Races at 2022 Berea College Mike and Mary Kay Invite
Berea, KY. – The Alice Lloyd College Running Lady Eagles and Eagles Cross Country teams participated in the always-competitive Berea College Mike and Mary Kay Invitational race on September 17th.
The challenging women's run, featured NCAA DII, NCAA DIII, NAIA, and NCCAA level runners, with 42 individuals from six different schools competing, plus several unattached participants.
When the dust had settled on the ladies' 5k run (3.2 miles), Alice Lloyd was led by junior Sarah Cecil. Her impressive time of 22:01 earned her a top-ten finish (7th). She was followed by freshman Abbey Hicks in the 24th position. Her time of 24:07 was solid for her first collegiate 5k.
In addition, giving great effort to the cause, were sophomores Kaitlyn Ratliff (25:14), and Olivia Inskeep (25:31). This earned them 28th and 29th place, respectively.
The tough men's 8K run (5miles) featured NCAA DI, NCAA DII, NCAA DIII, NAIA, and NCCAA level runners, with 57 individuals from eight different schools competing.
For the event, every Eagle gave a determined effort. They were led by junior Micah Blankenship, whose time of 31:55 earned him 24th place overall. He was followed by sophomore Koby Proffitt and freshman Collin Ramey in 33:21 and 34:29, respectively. This placed them in 35th and 38th positions on the day.
Alice Lloyd will return to action on October 1st, as both women's and men's squads travel to Louisville, KY, to participate in the Greater Louisville Classic, one of the country's top meets.
