Alice Lloyd Volleyball Hosts Shawnee State Bears in Final Home Match of Season

Pippa Passes, KY: On October 31st, the Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles volleyball team hosted River States Conference foe Shawnee State University (OH) in the final home contest of the season. When the final kill had been recorded, the Lady Bears had earned the straight-set decision.

In set 1, the game was tied early at 6-6 when the Lady Bears uncorked a massive 17-0 blitz to roar ahead, 23-6. They would take the contest 25-8.

In set 2, ALC came out and played well, only trailing 12-11. SSU would then go on a 7-0 run to lead 19-11. The hosts would cut the deficit down to four (23-19) before dropping a 25-19 decision.

In set 3, the Caney Creek ladies would stay within striking distance, only trailing 14-10. However, the Bears (15-10; 10-7 RSC) would unleash an 8-1 burst to pull away, 22-11. They would then seal the deal by closing the night with the 25-14 victory.

For the contest, the Ohio squad would hold a 45-14 kill advantage while leading in assists, 43-11, and digs, 53-31. Individually for Alice Lloyd, Taylor Hamilton led ALC (3-26; 0-17 RSC) in assists, with 6, while Kristen Issac added 4. Kyleah Ward, TK Ellis, and Tianna Wesley all registered 3 kills. Ward had the lone block, while Ellis provided a pair of service aces.

The Lady Eagles close out the regular season this weekend with a pair of road conference matches. On Friday, November 3rd, they face the home-standing Rio Grande Red Storm at 7:00 p.m. They then travel to Pennsylvania the next day to face the Point Park Pioneers at 12:00 pm.
