Bradley, WV: On September 6th, the Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles volleyball team (2-6) journeyed to the Mountaineer State to play two contests. Game one was a matchup with Appalachian Bible College, while game two was against River States Conference foe West Virginia University Tech. Below are recaps of each contest.
September 6th
Game One
ALC- 3; Appalachian Bible-0
On a hot day, in a contest played in a sweltering gymnasium, the Lady Eagles would take three close matches to earn the win. In set 1, the score was close throughout, but a late push gave the Caney Creek girls a 25-21 win.
In set 2, the two clubs battled evenly throughout before the Kentucky squad scored the final two points of the match to win a thriller, 25-23.
In set 3, the combatants gave a good show, but the host fans saw ALC come through in crunch time to ice the victory, 25-18.
Game Two
ALC -0; WVU Tech-3
ALC would drop the final contest to the WV club in three close games.
In set 1, Tech would pull out to a small advantage, only to watch the Pippa Passes ladies race back to get within two. The Golden Bears squad would then regain control with consecutive points and eventually win, 25-18.
In set 2, the host club opened with a quick burst. They would then manage to protect the advantage on their way to a 25-16 win.
In set 3, the Caney Creek club gave their all and kept the game tight. Unfortunately, they could not overcome the small deficit and finally fell 25-20.
On the day, for the two total matches, Brooklyn Cheek led the way with 16 kills, while Kristen Isaac led ALC with 27 assists. Caroline Parsons led everyone with 37 digs. Kyleah Ward produced 8 blocks and TK Ellis delivered a trio of aces.
