ALC Lady Eagles take down Toccoa Falls, 80-52

Pippa Passes, KY: The Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles returned home on Valentine's Day to face the Toccoa Falls (GA) Screaming Eagles. The hosts gave the home-fans some love as they blowed the contest open to win big, 80-52.

In the first period, seven different Lady Eagles produced points as ALC pulled out to a 19-14 advantage after ten minutes of action.

In the second quarter, Alice Lloyd saw junior forwards Jamie Cowan and Emily Estes combine for 11 points to give their crew the 19-13 edge. This enabled the hosts to lead 38- 27 at intermission.

In the third period, the Caney Creek crew saw sophomore guard Bailey Stewart catch fire and pump in 10 points. Her shooting helped break the game open and lifted the blue and white to a 62-42 cushion heading into the final ten minutes.

In the last stanza, the Pippa Passes posse maintained their steady play as they slammed the door shut on the visitors. The final buzzer would hand the impressive 28-point victory.

For ALC (12-10) three players reached double-figures in a balanced attack. Cowan led the day with her 16 point-10 rebound double-double. Estes was a perfect 6-6 from the field for 12 points while Stewart finished with 10.

In addition, senior guard Aziah Campbell handed off 6 assists, and joined freshman guard Emilee Neese with 4 steals apiece.

On the day, the Lady Eagles finished 44.7% (34-76) from the field, 15.8% (3-19) from long-range, and 69.2% (9-13) from the charity stripe. They added 45 rebounds, 15 assists, and 22 huge steals.

The Falls (9-16) was led by Riley Berninger with a game-high 21 points. Her club shot just 29.2% (19-65) from the field, 16.7% (3-22) from long-range, and 61.1% (11-18) from the foul line. They added 49 rebounds, 8 assists and 10 steals.
