Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles Basketball drops 76-60 decision to Madonna, Michigan

Harrodsburg, KY: On Friday, November 15th, the Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles ventured to Harrodsburg, KY, to participate in day one of the Visit Harrodsburg Classic. In the first game, ALC faced an undefeated Madonna University Michigan squad. The Crusaders broke open a tight game in the second half to defeat the Kentucky crew, 76-60.

In the opening period, the Lady Eagles were solid on defense, limiting MU to just 10 points. On offense, sparked by a pair of long bombs from sophomore guard Kennedy Harvel, the Bluegrass ladies would lead 15-10. advantage after ten minutes of play.

In the second quarter, senior guard Katie Jo Moore scored 6 points, but her club scored only 9 for the segment. This enabled the Crusaders to creep back and lead 26-24 just before intermission.

In the third period, the Pippa Passes team saw Madonna blister the nets with a 12-15 field goal shooting. This helped propel them to a 30-point quarter and handed them a 56-48 advantage entering the last quarter.

In the final period, ALC hit a wall as they could only muster 12 points. Although they fought until the final buzzer sounded, the deficit was too big to overcome.

For Alice Lloyd (2-6), Harvel was the only player to reach double figures, as she finished with 11 points. Junior guard Aziah Campbell and freshman guard Bailey Stewart both chipped in with 8 points. Stewart added 8 boards.

Additionally, Harvel and freshman guard Elivia Moore both recorded 2 steals, while Campbell and freshman guard Ashtyn Barrett handed out 3 assists apiece. Sophomore forward Jamie Cowan swatted a pair of shots.

The Caney Club finished shooting 34.5% (20-58) from the field and 25% (5-20) from long range. They connected on 80% (12-15) from the foul line while adding 34 rebounds, 9 assists, 5 blocks and 6 steals.

Terre'ya Moore paced MU (4-0) with 14 points. Her squad finished shooting 42.9% (27-63) from the field, 22.7% (5-22) from behind the arc, and 50% (17-34) from the charity stripe. They also added 46 rebounds, 16 assists, and 6 steals.
