Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles Mount Huge Comeback to Remain Undefeated

Pippa Passes, KY:  The Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles fell behind by 18 points before mounting a huge comeback to defeat the Point Park Lady Pioneers, 75-72.

In the opening period, points were hard to come by for the hosts as they quickly fell behind. PPU would lead 22-12 after ten minutes of action.

In the second quarter, things went from bad to worse as the visitors produced a 12-4 run in the first four minutes. At 6:00, the Pioneers led 34-16 and were on the verge of blowing the game away. At that point, everything changed.

Over the next three minutes, sparked by the duo of senior guard Hannah Kash and sophomore forward Makayla May, ALC promptly rolled out a 12-0 run to get within six (34-28).  Finally, when sophomore guard Katie Jo Moore swished a trifecta at .55, it made the score 39-39.  The hosts scored 27 big points during the stanza.

In the third period, both defenses would tighten up once more, but the Pippa Passes ladies took the segment 16-13 and led 55-52 at periods end.

In the final stanza, ALC would extend their advantage to eight on numerous occasions, then sink 5-6 late free throws to make the comeback complete.

For Alice Lloyd (5-0; 1-0 RSC), Kash led everyone with 28 points while drilling 4-7 threes. She tied senior center Bailee Brainard with 6 rebounds and also dished off 4 assists.

Moore added 12 points and 5 assists, while junior forward Madison Thompson hit 11 points. Brainard and May chipped in with 8 points each.

The victors won by shooting 39% (27-69) from the field and 47.1% (8-17) from long range. They connected on 68.2%% (15-22) from the foul line. They also added 31 rebounds, 12 assists, and 5 steals.

PPU (0-1) was paced by Sierra Seneta with 19 points. Her squad finished shooting just 41.8% (28-67) from the field and 34.5% (10-29) from deep. They connected on 57.1%% (8-14) from the foul line. They also added 46 rebounds, 13 assists, and 7 steals.

The Lady Eagles return this Saturday when they face the Carlow Lady Celtics in RSC play. Tipoff is set for 1:00 pm.
