ALC Cross Country Participates in 2022 Asbury Chick-Fil-A Invitational

Wilmore, KY: The women's and men's cross-country teams journeyed to central Kentucky on Saturday, October 22nd, to participate in the Chick-Fil-A Invitational, hosted by Asbury University.

The field was comprised of NCAA DII, NCAA DIII, NAIA, and NCCAA institutions, with a total of 39 women and 52 men taking the starting line for the 5K (3.1 mile) women's race and 8K (5 mile) men's race.  The course was challenging and consisted of rolling hills.

On the day, the ladies were paced once again by Sara Cecil, who crossed the finish line in a time of 23:00, to earn the 17th position. Also performing for the team were Olivia Inskeep (24:46- 22nd), and Kaitlynn Ratliff (25:59- 26th). All gave a solid effort.

 In the men's event, Koby Proffitt paced the squad in a solid time of 32:01, which earned him 19th. He was closely followed by Micah Blankenship, who came in just two seconds later (32:03-20th) Newcomer Kenny Wilburn (32:40-22nd), came in shortly afterward. The top three were assisted by Dakota Owens (34:50- 34th), Collin Ramey (35:26-38th), and Gerald Estep (36:43-44th). Each runner gave a tough performance, which enabled the men to finish 3rd overall out of the six competing teams.

The squad will next compete in the River States Conference Championship on November 5th, in Kokomo, Indiana.
