Alice Lloyd Eagles soccer drops final regular season contest in Michigan, Mideast Region Tournament now awaits

Lansing, MI:  On Friday, October 31st, the Alice Lloyd College Eagles journeyed to the Michigan to face the Grace Christian University Tigers in the final regular season contest of the year. Halloween day proved to be full of tricks to the Bluegrass squad as they suffered a 2-1 defeat.

The host squad struck first when they managed to boot a score near the 15:00 mark to move ahead, 1-0. However, in the 20th minute, ALC's  Payton Tharp took a header and knocked it into the net to knot the match up, 1-1.

However, shortly before the half, the Tigers managed to move the ball and slip a score into their own goal. They would take a 2-1 lead into the locker room for intermission.

In the second stanza, defense was the name of the game as both squads remained rock solid. As the time ticked away, the Kentucky crew tried desperately to secure the game-tying goal. However, the inspired Grace Christian squad did not break as they held on until the final horn sounded, sealing the upset victory.

On the day, Alice Lloyd (11-2-3) struggled, as the NCCAA's shot leader was held in check for 90 minutes. The Tigers ran their record to 4-8-3 with the big win.

Offensively, Tharp had the lone score for the Eagles while on defense, Pippa Passes goalie Kalin Schneider went the distance, suffering the hard-luck loss, allowing 2 goals.

The Eagles now advance to the NCCAA Mideast Regional Tournament where they will face the Boyce Bulldogs in Louisville on Friday,November 7th. An automatic bid to the NCCAA National Tournament awaits the winner of that contest.. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00pm
