Pippa Passes (KY): The Alice Lloyd Eagles soccer team hosted two games during fall break. On October 11th, Southwest Virginia traveled to Pippa Passes, while two days later, Great Lakes Christian (MI) made the trek. After the final horn sounded, the hosts had earned a split for their effort.
ALC-4; SV-2
Against Southwest Virginia, the Eagles would ride a big offensive performance from Maddux Camden and Dylan Moore, plus solid team defense from everyone, to pull out a 4-0 shutout victory.
In the opening half, the squads battled evenly as neither could score. Finally, at minute 20, Alice Lloyd's Moore maneuvered the ball skillfully and kicked the first goal of the game (1-0).
Fourteen minutes later, Moore would find Camden with a nifty pass, and he drove drive the ball into the back of the net for a 2-0 lead. That score would hold until halftime.
In the second half, nothing changed until the 58th minute. At that point, Camden would strike again, doing solo work for his second goal of the day. Now, the home club led, 3-0.
Later, in the 75th minute, Camden would register a nice assist to Sawyer Crum, who scored his squad's fourth goal (4-0). In the meantime, ALC remained stingy on defense, allowing no goals, as they would coast to the final horn.
On the day, SV fired 10 shots compared to the Eagles 7, and had 7 saves. For the the victors, Joseph Westphal was solid in the net, as he recorded a 6-save shutout. The Eagles (2-5-2) led in corner kicks (3-2) and each squad committed 3 fouls.

In the second half, Great Lakes would strike first, scoring a goal in the 52nd minute (3-2). However, the Eagles would respond on their very next possession when Moore led Miguel Flores with a sweet pass, and Flores came through with the score (3-2). Unfortunately, that would be as close as ALC would get.
From that point, GLC would respond with a succession of goals. They would produce scores in minute 65,72, and 80. From there, they held on for the 6-2 victory.
