Alice Lloyd Soccer Travels to Pikeville

Pikeville, KY:  For the second time in a six-day span, the Alice Lloyd College Eagles faced the University of Pikeville Bears in soccer action. At the conclusion of the contest played on September 19th, the hosts had grabbed a 5-1 decision.

The Bears got on the scoreboard rapidly as they kicked their first goal just three minutes in (1-0). They would score for the second time in the twenty-sixth minute to go up 2-1.

Just before the half, they would produce a third score and enter the locker room at intermission, holding a 3-0 advantage.

In the second half, the defense was solid both ways. However, at minute seventy-three UPike would receive an important goal to lead 4-0.

ALC would eventually reach pay dirt five minutes later. At that point, on a penalty kick, Eagle Dylan Moore would place a nice shot past the Bear goalie to produce a score (4-1).

Unfortunately, the home squad would stop the run and seize the momentum once more when they scored shortly before the final horn (5-0).

On the day, the victors (3-3-1) fired 19 shots, compared to the Eagles 9. Alice Lloyd goalie Joseph Westphal registered 8 saves, while Pikeville stopped 4 Caney Creek attempts.  ALC committed just 4 fouls, compared to the Bears' 17. Each squad committed 2 offsides, and UP led in corner kicks, 4-5.

The Eagles (1-3-0) return to action on Thursday, September 21st, when they host Campbellsville University-Harrodsburg in a doubleheader. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m.
