Alice Lloyd Soccer Hosts UPike

Pippa Passes, KY: On September 14th, the Alice Lloyd College Eagles hosted the University of Pikeville Bears in soccer action. At the conclusion of the contest, the guests would earn a 5-0 decision.

The Bears got on the scoreboard rather quickly as they kicked their first goal at 2:33 (1-0). Just five minutes later, they would strike paydirt once more (2-0). Their final score of the half would come at 29:01. This would send the visitors into intermission with a 3-0 advantage.

In the second half, the UPike defense refused to allow the Eagles many shots on goal. On offense, they stuck once again at 53:27 (4-0). Finally, they would close out the scoring at 77:54 with a late score (5-0).

Alice Lloyd battled to the very end but was never able to get the big kick they needed to start a rally. 

On the day, the victors (2-3) fired 24 shots, compared to the Eagles total of just 4. Alice Lloyd goalie Joseph Westphal registered big 13 saves, while Pikeville stopped 4 Caney Creek attempts.  ALC committed 6 fouls, compared to the Bears' 10.

The Eagles (1-2) return to action on Tuesday, September 19^th, when they travel to Pikeville for a return match with the Bears. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m.
