ALC Eagles basketball roll to big 127-62 victory over Crown College

Pippa Passes, KY: The Alice Lloyd Eagle hoopsters returned to the friendly confines of the Perry Campus Center and "Coach J Court" on November 7th to face the Crown College (TN) Royal Crusaders in the first game of the Irma Stepp Memorial Classic. The hosts got off to a slow start before exploding with a massive run, as they cruised to the nice 127-62 victory.

In the first half, the contest was close early as Crown came out hot, and the hosts had trouble finding the bottom of the net. Due to this, the Tennessee squad would jump on top 23-19 by the midpoint of the stanza. Shortly after, CC would sink four free throws and slowly extend their advantage to eight (29-21) at the 7:51 mark.

From there, however, everything would change. Over the next three minutes, fueled by a combined 8 points from freshman forward Evin Eversole and senior guard Koji Anderson, the blue and white would go on a quick 13-0 run. Suddenly, the home squad led 34-29.

After that, another huge 20-4 run in a three-minute span would push the lead to twenty-one, 54-33. A pair of late buckets from Crown would end the half, and show the Caney Creek crew leading, 54-38.

In the second half, the Pippa Passes posse picked up right where they left off, rolling out another mega-blitz. When junior guard Desmier Hatchett drained a jumper with 14:33 remaining, it capped off a 23-3 bomb, making the score 77-41.

From there, Alice Lloyd unleashed their depth. The entire squad would share equal minutes as everyone got in on the action. When the final buzzer sounded, it sealed the deal on an impressive 65 point victory.

For ALC (1-2) 13 players would reach double-figure minutes and 14 different players would dent the scoreboard. They were led on the day by Eversole, who drained 9-15 shots to finish with a game-high 21 points. He recorded a double-double by hauling down 12 rebounds, and also swatted 3 shots. He was followed closely by Anderson with 14 points on 6-8 field goals. He added 3 assists and 2 steals.
