Alice Lloyd Eagles Basketball opens season with 81-60 victory 

Gallatin, TN: On November 1st, the Alice Lloyd Eagles opened the 2024-25 basketball campaign by journeying to Gallatin, Tennessee to battle the Boyce College Bulldogs in a contest played at Welch College.The Eagles showed their incredible balance as they would roll to a nice 81-60 victory.

 

In the opening stanza, the Bulldogs opened with a three-point basket to lead 3-0. After that, the Pippa Passes posse would take control. Utilizing their incredibly deep bench to pick up the tempo, the Eagles would see 12 players score in the first twenty minutes of play. Senior forward  Ben Soumahoro would lead the charge with 8 points, and the Kentucky boys  would settle for a 47-28 advantage after twenty minutes of action.

In the second half, the Caney Creek crew would turn to the long-range marksmanship of senior guard Jacob Curry, junior guard Koji Anderson and sophomore guard Landon Napier, who all drained multiple long bombs. They would help lead the Eagles to a 27 point lead with 13:53 remaining. From there, the Bluegrass boys were never threatened as they would take the solid 21 point victory.

 

For Alice Lloyd (1-0), they were led on the night by Soumahoro who achieved a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. He was joined in double digits by Anderson, who produced 10 points. Curry added 9 points while Napier and sophomore forward Jackson Tackett added 8 points each. Tackett also snagged 6 boards.

In addition, senior forward Devaunte Robinson grabbed 8 boards and led the club with 3 assists and 3 blocks. Sophomore forward Naz Welch picked off two passes to lead in the steals department.

 

On the day, the Caney Creek crew finished at 45.1% (32-71) from the field, including 40.6%  (11-26) from beyond the arc. They also drilled 75% (6-8) from the charity stripe, controlled the glass with 45 rebounds, handed out 17 assists and swiped 8 steals.

BC (1-0) was led by Tyler Nauert with 18 points. His squad shot 39.1% (25-64) from the field, 22.7% (5-22) from beyond the arc and 45.5% (5-11) from the foul line. Additionally, they snared 37 rebounds, handed off 12 assists and stole 8 balls.
