Alice Lloyd Eagles Earn Road Victory Over Campbellsville University-Harrodsburg

Harrodsburg, KY: Coach Scott Cornett's Alice Lloyd College Eagles got out to a great start, leading for all forty minutes, and notched their first win of the season over an athletic Campbellsville University-Harrodsburg outfit, 73-69. The matchup took place on November 7th.

In the opening half, things started great for the Eagles. On the defensive end, the Pippa Passes boys tightened up immensely, basically shutting down their foes.  On offense, senior guard Bryce Slone scored 10 of his club's first 13 points, which propelled his squad to a 13-2 lead by the 14:42 mark.

For the remainder of the half, things would stay positive as the Eagle bench provided a massive spark. Junior guard Jared Strickland delivered 7 points to help keep Harrodsburg in a deficit.  Just before the half, forward Noah Caudill powered in a bucket, which enabled the visitors to take a 35-21 advantage into the locker room at intermission.

In the second half, the Caney Creek crew would hold their cushion as senior forward Will Philpot and sophomore guard Brady Nelson inflicted damage on the offensive end. The Eagles led by 13 points with 1:01 to go before the Pioneers produced some late buckets to set the final score as the Caney Creek crew chalked up the satisfying victory.

For the victors (1-2), three players would reach double digits. Slone would lead the way with 16 points, including 6-7 free throws. He was followed by Nelson with 13 points and 3 assists. He sank 7-8 charity shots. Caudill would be perfect on his six attempts and finish with 12 points. He added 6 boards.

In addition, senior forward Will Philpot returned from the injured list to contribute 9 points and 9 rebounds, while senior center Colyn Sturgill and junior guard Cameron Worrix swatted 2 shots. Slone, Philpot, and Strickland all had 2 steals.

Alice Lloyd shot 51% (25-49) from the floor and 30% (6-20) from behind the arc. They finished 77.3% (17-22) from the foul line. They also grabbed 44 rebounds while adding 11 assists, 8 steals, and 4 blocks.

Harrodsburg (1-2) was led by Kereion Douglas with 20 points. His squad shot 30.6% (22-72) from the floor and 24% (6-25) from behind the arc. They finished 73.1%% (19-26) from the foul line and had 35 rebounds, 8 assists, and 17 steals.

The Eagles return to action this weekend in the challenging the University of the Cumberlands Classic in Williamsburg (KY). Friday, they will face the host team at 4:00 pm. On Saturday, they will battle the Campbellsville University Tigers. Tipoff is set for 2:00 pm.
