ALC Baseball drops first game in NCCAA Mideast Region to Ohio Christian University

Circleville, OH: The Alice Lloyd College Eagles (31-18) baseball team returned to the diamond on March 6th in their second match of the double-elimination NCCAA Mideast Regional Baseball Tournament against #2 Ohio Christian University (20-25). The Caney Creek crew had a tough time at the plate and fell behind early, dropping a 13-0 decision.

ALC-0: OCU-13 (Seven Innings)

The hosts struck in the first inning, using a single and double to deliver a trio of runs (3-0). They then used a single in the third to make the score 4-0.

OCU broke the game open in the fourth, utilizing three singles to plate 4 runs. They now led 8-0.

From there, they added 1 in the fifth (9-0) on an Eagle error, 2 in the sixth (11-0) on a triple, and ended the contest by producing 2 more scores in the seventh, on a wild pitch and sacrifice fly (13-0).

At the plate, ALC had singles in the second, third, and fourth, and saw Carson Tate (2B) double in the sixth. However, that would be the only 4 hits they would come up with on the day.

Four men took to the mound for the Caney Creekers. Sunny Smith started and took the loss. He allowed 3 hits and 3 runs in 0.1 innings. Colton Lovelace followed. In 3.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits and 5 runs.

Trenton Williams appeared next and went 2.1 innings, allowing 3 hits and 3 runs. Parker Williams threw the final inning, handing out 1 hit and 2 runs. He recorded his squads only strikeout of the contest

The Eagles were outhit, 13-4, and committed more errors, 2-1. They will return to the field Thursday at 11;00am when they battle Grace Christian University. The winner will stay alive while the loser will see their season come to an end.
