Alice Lloyd-7: Kentucky Christian-5
The home club jumped out quickly, scoring a run in the first behind a double (1-0) and adding a pair in the third behind a single and Eagle error. This made the score 3-0.
ALC answered in the fourth when singles from Cole Bishop (C), Kyle Compton (DH) and Colton Lovelace (3B) were sandwiched around a pair of Knight errors. This led to a 4-run windfall for the visitors and pushed them ahead, 4-3.
KCU then knotted up the match in the same inning on a sacrifice fly (4-4) before ALC responded once more.
In the fifth, a trio of doubles from Carson Tate (2B), Jayden Huff (1B), and Challen Massengill (LF) provided a trio of runs. Suddenly, the Pippa Passes posse led 7-4.
The hosts used a double of their own to gain a run back in the sixth, 7-5.
In the seventh, the Knights loaded the bases with one out, but the next two batters struck out to end the threat. KCU then placed a pair of runners on the basepaths in the eighth and one on in the ninth, but each time, the blue and white would squash their efforts and hold on for the nice victory.
For Alice Lloyd, Tate led the club with a pair of hits while Massengill's 2 RBIs led in that department.
Gibbs Cochran started on the mound and was credited with the win. In 5 innings, he allowed 8 hits and 4 runs (3 earned), while walking 1 and whiffing 2.
Quentin Williams relieved for 3 innings. He allowed 3 hits 1 run, and 2 walks, while striking out 6 Knights.
Anakin Floyd closed the ninth, allowing 0 hits and registering 1K.
The Eagles are scheduled to play their next contest on Wednesday at 3:00 against #2 Ohio Christian University.
