Alice Lloyd College Baseball opens 2026 portion of season against Wilberforce University
Pippa Passes, KY: The Alice Lloyd College Eagles baseball team opened the 2026 portion of their season against a Wilberforce University (OH) squad. The Bulldogs would leave frigid temperatures in Pippa Passes with a sweep.
February 12th
Game 1
Alice Lloyd-1; Wilberforce-4
The Buckeye squad opened the scoring in the second inning. They would utilize a double and pull ahead, 2-0.
However, in the Bulldog sixth, a crucial single drove in a pair of runners. This lifted WU to a 4-1 lead. They would then hold on until the final out was recorded to clinch the win.
At the plate, Bishop led the hosts with 2 nice hits, a homer and a double. He also recorded the lone RBI.
Cain Flynn started on the mound for ALC and took the loss. He allowed 2 earned runs on 5 hits in 3.0 innings of work. He stuck out 3. Braydon Norton and Matthew Hebar both pitched in relief, giving up 2 hits and 1 run each. Hebar whiffed 2 batters.
The hosts were outhit 9-6.
Game 2
Alice Lloyd-8; Wilberforce-10
The Eagles fell behind quickly then rallied to tie the game before a pair of late scores handed the contest to the Bulldogs.
The Buckeye club would use a triple and pair of singles to open play with 4 runs (4-0)
The Caney Creek crew sliced that in half in their opening at-bat when singles from Diego Rodriguez (SS) and Jacob Ayers (1B) cut the deficit to 4-2.
The Bulldogs would respond with 1 run in both the third and fourth innings (6-2). Later, they added a pair in the fifth to set the scoreboard at 8-2. Fortunately, ALC would rally.
In the bottom of the same inning, a series of walks by WU sandwiched around a big double from Alice Lloyd's John Lopez (CF) led to a massive six-run windfall for the Caney Creek crew. Just like that, the contest was knotted up at 8-8.
However, in the sixth inning, a fielders choice enabled a pair of Bulldog runs to race home and lift the Ohio squad to a 10-8 advantage. They would then manage to hold on to their lead until the final out.
At the plate for ALC, Rodriguez and Grover Maynard (LF) each registered 2 hits while Lopez and Ayers had 2 RBIs apiece.
Trenton Williams started on the mound for ALC, allowing 4 runs on 4 hits in 1 inning of work. Ryan Grubb, Niklas Kidd, Sunny Smith,and Anakin Floyd all appeared in relief.
The visitors also won the hitting battle, 13-8.
