Alice Lloyd Baseball Eagles Travel to Indiana University Kokomo for Conference Make-up Game

Kokomo, IN: The Alice Lloyd College Eagles baseball team traveled to the Hoosier state on April 13th to face the Indiana University Kokomo Cougars in River States Conference play. The game was previously canceled due to rain. After a tough battle, the hosts would take the 9-4 victory. With the loss ALC drops to 12-26 (1-17 RSC) while the Indiana crew improved to 20-17 (10-8 RSC)

In the contest, IUK used a big second inning to propel them to victory.
The Eagles struck in the second, when, with two runners on base, Isaiah Kelly (DH) drove a shot down the right field line to plate two (2-0). He would later score on a Cougar error, to give his club a 3-0 advantage. Unfortunately, Kokomo would quickly make amends for this error.
The Hoosier club would strike back in the same inning as they rode two massive homeruns to gain a windfall of five runs. Suddenly, the home squad led 5-3.
In the third, fourth, and seventh innings, the Indiana club would use a triple, a single, and another single to earn 1, 2 and 1 run in each. By the time the Pippa Passes men came to bat in the eighth, they trailed 9-2.
In their final opportunity, the Bluegrass boys saw Challen Massengill(PR) reach third, then score on a wild pitch. However, that would be all the runs they would get as the matchup soon ended in favor of Indiana Kokomo.
The visitors registered 7 hits on the day with Corey Jefferson (SS) finishing 3-5 and Cannon Ferrell (C) gaining 2.
Kelley (2) and Isaiah Beckett (2B) provided 2 and 1 RBI's but it wasn't enough.
On the mound, Ryan Cozart dropped the decision. In 3.1 innings, he allowed 8 hits and 8 runs, with 2 strikeouts. He was relieved by Dawson Beckett, who threw 4.2 innings, giving up just 2 hits and 0 earned runs. He struck out 2.
The victors produced 10 hits compared to the Eagles 7, whileALC committed 0 errors compared to Kokomo's 2. They just missed some golden scoring opportunities when they had the opportunity to rally.
