ALC Baseball Travels to UPike
Pikeville, KY: The Alice Lloyd College Eagles baseball team traveled to Pikeville on April 12th to face the University of Pikeville Bears in a non-conference matchup. At the conclusion, the hosts had earned the win.

UPike jumped out quickly and pulled away for the win.
The Bears struck with a run in the first on a long fly to center field (1-0). They then unleashed to long ball in the next inning.
In the that inning, Pikeville belted a 3-run blast and 2-run shot to produce five big runs. Suddenly, they led 6-0.
In the UPike fourth, a single led to another run (7-0), beforeALC would finally respond in the fifth.
The Eagles would break the ice in the fifth when TJay Mullins(SS) doubled. He then scored when Caleb Horton (2B) singled to right field (7-1). Unfortunately, the rally would end there.
The home squad then put the contest on ice. They plated three runs in the sixth on the strength of two well-place singles (10-1). They then closed out the night in the seventh when another single delivered the game-sealing run (11-1).
The visitors registered just 5 hits on the day with Mullins providing two of them. Caleb Justice (3B) added a double to the cause., while Horton had the lone RBI.
On the mound, Jason Frye suffered the loss. He lasted 1.2innings, allowing 4 hits and 5 earned runs, with 1 strikeout. He was relieved in order by Cole Bishop, Matthew Hebar, and Challen Massengill. The trio combined to give up 10 hits and 5 runs, while whiffing 3 more Bears.
The victors produced 14 hits compared to ALC's 5. The Caney Creek club committed the contests only error.
