Alice Lloyd Eagles Baseball Opens Spring Season

Milligan, TN:   The Alice Lloyd College Eagles baseball squad opened the 2023 portion of their season by traveling to the Volunteer state to face the Milligan Buffaloes. The Buffaloes, who received votes in the NAIA preseason poll, took the 12-2 victory.

The Eagles drew first blood with a run in the top of the second. Cole Bishop (C) doubled and then scored on a single from Caleb Horton (2B), to make the score 1-0.

The hosts would answer in the bottom of the inning, as they used a double and wild pitch to plate three (3-1).

Milligan added one in the third on a double (4-1) and then utilized a homerun one inning later to bring four more runs home (8-1).

In the fifth inning, MU would then put up another four spot to increase their advantage to 12-1.

ALC would attempt to rally in the sixth. First, Noah Dingess (1B) singled. He was then driven home later in the inning on a single from Corey Jefferson (DH). However, trailing 12-2, the rally would fizzle soon after, and Milligan would put the game away in seven.

For the Pippa Passes club (3-2), they would register 8 hits. Horton and Jefferson both had 2 hits and 1 RBI. The team would leave 5 runners stranded on base.

On the mound, Chase Conley would start and suffer the loss. A line drive flush on his leg hampered his pitching. He allowed 7 hits and 4 earned runs. Will Gladson came on in relief and allowed 7 hits and 8 runs.

The Buffaloes (8-2) stroked 14 hits and left 4 runners on base. Each squad committed 1 error.

The Eagles return to action next Tuesday, February 21st when they host the University of Pikeville Bears at 3:00 pm.
